Where this came from.
When I began conducting behavioral observations as a school psychologist, I did what most of us do: I made the simple tools I had work. A spreadsheet for the session. A workout timer running intervals in the background. I might still be finishing a note when the interval advanced, trying to remember whether the current interval was for the student or a peer. It got the job done. That's about all I can say for it.
I built Sightline because I couldn't find an observation tool purpose-built for psychoeducational evaluations and FBAs. Some captured interval data well but left no room for context, supplemental notes, or unexpected events. Others required cloud accounts and networked infrastructure, turning a one-person workflow into a district IT, privacy, and procurement process.
Student records stay on your device. No cloud account, no complicated IT review, no vendor you have to trust with your student data. It's self-funded and independent, with no outside investors and no plans to sell.
I use it for every evaluation I conduct.
